This project, supported by “Orillas Nuevas ~ Nouveaux Rivages” a program for Argentina’s cultural and creative industries (ICC), promoted by the Institut français d’Argentine, thanks to the exceptional support of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, takes as its trigger one of the biggest problems in physics: the reconciliation between general relativity, which answers questions of astronomical dimensions and masses, and quantum mechanics, which solves problems at the subatomic level, giving rise to what is known as “The Problem of the Two Infinite.”.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous disons adieu à notre collègue Yannick Giraud-Héraud, décédé le 13 juin 2025. Depuis 1999, il a œuvré sans relâche à la création du laboratoire Astroparticules et Cosmologie (APC), dont il était l’un des fondateurs. En janvier 2005, il a pris la tête du groupe Cosmologie et Gravitation. Il a largement contribué à positionner l’APC comme un acteur majeur, notamment par sa participation à la mission spatiale Planck de l’ESA, qu’il a coordonnée pour l’IN2P3.

QUBIC engineers Fabricio Rodríguez and David Liendro perform a measurement of the responsivity of the instrument. They put an absorbing screen in front of the telescope at regular intervals, and by comparing the measurement between the warm absorber and the cold sky, we can calculate the quality of the performance of QUBIC.

On the night of May 13-14, 2025 QUBIC marked a milestone in its history: for the first time from Alto Chorrillos, real data of the San Antonio de los Cobres sky were acquired with an bolometric interferometer for Cosmology!

In the coming months, we expect to have a clear understanding of the instrument’s performance, analyze the first sky data, and install the calibration source.

A period of great achievements for QUBIC has begun.

With the work of scientists, engineers, and technicians on the mountain and the support of international online collaboration, QUBIC is back in operation.

In a few days, once the temperature is suitable for observation, it will begin collecting data in Alto Chorrillos for calibration.

In 2025, and as each year, this Day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. QUBIC Observatory cellebrates the work of women in the collaboration, their passion and vision.

El 28 de enero de 2025, la colaboración QUBIC recibió en Francia seis nuevos conjuntos TES. El la foto, el último conjunto TES fabricado para QUBIC (izquierda) y una imagen microscópica de uno de los detectores (derecha). Después de las pruebas en el laboratorio, se seleccionarán 3 o 4 conjuntos de sensores para la actualización del demostrador técnico (TD) y el instrumento final (FI).
